Australia seems to be leading the game when it comes to new and innovative dance music. From Alison Wonderland to Japanese Wallpaper, Nina Las Vegas to Swindail, the sheer level of talent emerging from the island continent is nothing short of impressive. I’ve heard it’s because of the lack of a real support system for the arts, and so only the cream of the crop really rises to the top. I’ve also heard that triple j’s notoriety across the nation helps dance music thrive. Regardless of why or how the music gets through to us, it’s here and we’re enjoying the hell out of it.
The latest to emerge is Melbourne’s Torren Føøt, the self-proclaimed “king of the local G-house movement.” He operates with a bassline-first mentality and remixes classics like Tiga’s “Bugatti” and Destructo’s “All Nite” with dark, sinister grooves. His latest track “LØVE ME” is a full original. It’s probably his best work to date, showing incredible quality on the low-end with a comprehensive fusion of grooving topline synths and complementary vocals. It’s the kind of tune you’d expect to hear at peak hours of an all-nighter club. It’s as seductive as it is thrilling, perfect for a house-focused mix or late night adventure.
You can stream “LØVE ME” below and find Torren Føøt on tour in May and June.
