Everybody knows that food and music go together like two peas in a beautiful cosmic pod. When artists and chefs grow together, the worlds they create are some of the most tastefully crafted and forward-thinking. This week, premiere LA beatmaker, producer, and musician TOKiMONSTA will be offering fans a chance to experience an intimate, three-course dinner party for the Lune Rouge remix album.

To celebrate the upcoming festivities, NEST HQ has the honor of premiering one of our favorite remixes on the album, Sam Von Horn and Justin Jay‘s edit of “NO WAY” featuring Isaiah Rashad, Joey Purp & Ambré. It’s got this incredibly minimal house foundation that reminds me of old school Lusine and Four Tet. Uplifting and calming, their remix is as appetizing as it is comforting.

According to Justin Jay, the edit came together as flawlessly as it sounds. “Even back in middle/high school, Sam had a passion for a diverse range of music,” he said. “From classic deep house to the LA beat scene. He would show me deep Flying Lotus cuts and opened me up to producers like Dimlite and Teebs. It just made so much sense for us to team up on this remix given Sam’s knowledge/taste for both beat music and house. I forwarded Sam the stems from my phone as I was driving back to our apartment. By the time I got home, he’d already made the dope, off-kilter piano chop that drives the song. As we got going on the remix, Four Tet also became a big reference for where we wanted to take it. Not sure if any of these inspirations come through, but I think it’s fun to toss a bunch of influences in the blender and see what happens.”
