Let’s celebrate Record Record: our favorite French imprint consisting of many redundant words but very few redundant sounds.
Founded by Point Point in 2015, the label has been focused on progression, talent, and originality – all with a forward-focused vision. Meticulously curated and aesthetically driven, both musically and visually, Record Record aims to be a force to be reckoned with, shining through in a sea of mediocrity that misrepresents today’s talent.
We all know by now that French music has given some of the best electronic talent in the past 10 years, from Mr. Oizo to Daft Punk and Ed Banger to Bromance. The enviable ‘French touch’ has been, for lack of a better word, untouchable. With influences ranging from nu-disco and electro to classic house and hard techno, French artists have a penchant for combining several futuristic musical elements and meshing them together to create something new. This is exactly what Record Record has gifted us in the releases on their label.
Devoted to God, Nömak, Dombresky, AAZAR, LH4L, Born Dirty, Rhoda, Marlin, and DZZ are just a few of the many names that grace their release roster, providing our ears with a sultry and ultra-modern flood of sounds we never knew existed.
Point Point is celebrating Record Record’s momentous and busy two year anniversary this weekend in New York City at China Chalet – an intimate gathering of some of the label’s best minds and talent; Point Point, GRRL, Ö (formally known as Nömak), and DZZ will all be gracing the decks from 10am to 2am.
