Drum n bass legends NOISIA are still running with the high of their latest album Outer Edges, which debuted in August of last year and has already seen a wealth of remixes, play time from artists both in and outside of the drum n bass arena, and even a live audiovisual show.
Today, the trio is announcing a string of remixes of Outer Edges that they’ve been playing live. Today, we premiere their edit of “Voodoo,” one of the most experimental and extroverted tracks on the album. It hits like a ton of bricks, so it’s only fitting that the remix should take it a few steps further.
It’s spastic and menacing but in an endearing “I need to hear this live on a massive system in a dense crowd of people” way. Kicks that sound like a hyperactive robot kicking a tin can down the road. Rhythms that could cause a minor heart attack in even the healthiest of listeners. It’s dangerous yet so alluring. NOISIA offered some words on the edits.
“We recently put a new twist on some of our own songs for the Outer Edges audiovisual shows and decided to make them release worthy. We treated ‘Dead Limit,’ ‘Diplodocus,’ ‘Tommy’s Theme,’ and ‘Surfaceless.’ This ‘Voodoo’ remix is the last one we finished, and that’s probably why this is currently the one we’re most hyped about ourselves. Hope you enjoy!”
