The newest track from dark ambient noise artist Lingua Ignota has her getting much more cinematic and composed than last year’s breakout album All Bitches Die. This track comes off her upcoming album CALIGULA, due out July 19th on Profound Lore Records, and is inspired by the explicitly sexual and violent tale of the Roman emperor.
Lingua’s approach to music has always been unflinchingly emotional and severe, with this track being no exception. Lingua does, however, enhance the imagery and narrative aspects of her music on this track, with the first minute coming through with some symphonic synths reminiscent of Wendy Carlos’ work on A Clockwork Orange. She eventually dives headfirst into some of the most composed and distorted screams we’ve heard from her, ultimately transitioning into a chamber of reverbed out vocal work. Listen to the track above.
