This is our story...

Pasadena-heralding rapper Katori Walker just hit our radar like a ton of bricks with the incredibly powerful music video for “Run,” which viscerally portrays Katori fighting to be heard through crushing police violence. Both the visual and the song masterfully capture the anxiety of feeling trapped by brutal oppression, the cathartic moment of breaking free, and what that can mean in the United States if you’re in the wrong neighborhood with the wrong color skin.

The video narrative also serves to deconstruct the roles of victim and oppressor when it comes to racially motivated persecution, as you’ll see in the ending’s plot twist.
