This is our story...

Soul-sonic force and modern dance music innovators Ibibo Sound Machine start off 2019 with the infectious “Tell Me.” The group’s high-key west African and throwback sound does well with modern production, shiny synth parts and groovy slapback percussive. Their bilingual lead vocalist, Eno Williams sings with a commanding voice. Her sharp, full voice is reminiscent of Paradise Garage hits and late ’90s sweaty club jams. The 8-piece band does well in a club music context, with the cutting live brass accentuating the deepness of the analog groove. The group has had an interesting set of releases since 2017’s Uyai, doing everything from covering The Mountain Goats, The Cure, and writing a song for a Basquiat-inspired video jam. Their next album is due out March 22 off Merge, and it promises to be as funky and refined as this titular lead single; check it out below.
