Bugged Out! is a name synonymous with late nights and early mornings, unpretentious attitudes, and an undeniable pioneering spirit. Birthed from the Acid House wave of the early 90s in Manchester, England, Bugged Out! began when two university pals, Johnno Burgess & Paul Benney, took their love of dance music past their journalistic tendencies and into the club, kicking off the first party in 1994 with no intention or realization that it would live on as one of the most mental parties in the world for over two decades.
The folks at Thump have put together an incredible documentary on the history of the legendary club and party, interviewing the founders as well as their mind-blowing list of patrons including Chemical Brothers, Erol Alkan, Skream, Pedro Winter, Simian Mobile Disco, Klaxons, Miss Kittin, Eats Everything, Green Velvet, and many more. The documentary illuminates Bugged Out!’s admirable ability to stay true to their ideals and tastes; unwavering to fads and never aimed to make the quick cash.
Go back in time with this tastefully reflective piece.
