Between the Black and Caspian Seas, right at the crossroads of Europe and Asia, lies the nation of Georgia — the home country of 17-year-old producer, Zaza, formerly known as Lil Beat. The teenage trap enthusiast from halfway around the world has been polishing his game over the past year or so, displaying a natural talent for both hard-knocking hip hop instrumentals as well as big ticket remixes for Future’s “Freak Hoes” and Diplo’s “Set Me Free”. Today, Zaza follows suit with the latter, taking on Wiwek & Skrillex‘s recent OWSLA collaboration with Elliphant titled “Killa“.
Bolstered with big, bold drums and screeching synth work, Zaza’s new rendition of “Killa” carries the original’s same weight and tempo while replacing some of Wiwek’s straight-outta-the-jungle vibes with a more straightforward, bass-heavy approach. With direct support from Skrillex on this one, Zaza is a name we’ll be sure to keep an eye on this year.
