nest10 returns this week with two handfuls of tracks zipped up and ready to download for free.
If you missed the first one last week, let us catch you up. nest10 is a new weekly feature from Nest HQ highlighting the generous musicians from around the world who graciously give their music away for free. Every Thursday, we’ll have a new .zip folder with 10 mp3s selected by the team here at NHQ.
If you’re a producer or remixer and would like to have your track considered for the next nest10, send your private Soundcloud streams to firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject “nest10” and we’ll check it out!
Find our selections for this week below, and check in with us next Thursday for VOL 3.
nest10 // VOL 2 Tracklist
Gorgon City – Saving My Life (Warehouse Dub) [VIRGIN]
The lads of Gorgon City will be heading back to North America next month for a major city run, stopping in LA, SF, CHI, and NYC for some big room shows, and ahead of the tour, the guys are giving away a killer dub of their latest single with ROMANS. Enjoy it.
Ukweli & Nu Fvnk ft. Mclaire – Wanted [self-released]
Nu Fvnk is a producer from Nairobi, Kenya who is making some frothy tunes under the genre #EAWAVE, or East African Wave. He hit us up on Twitter earlier this week and we’ve been groovin’ to his vibes ever since. “Wanted” is a beautiful, vocal-driven slow-roller blending sedated R&B vibes with a wonky electronica instrumental. More from him here.
Years & Years – King (Rejecting Crookers Mix) [self-released]
The Crookers version of Years & Years’ “King” is a dusty four to the floor revamp, packed with warm low-end swells and calm synth flares which give off nice hints of Basement Jaxx vibes. Perfect house track for fall weather.
The Weeknd – Can’t Feel My Face (Malaa Remix) [self-released]
The French mysterio, Malaa, surfaces with a crunchy bassline remix of The Weeknd. Dude’s been pretty ace on his remix game as of late. If you haven’t yet, check his other ones for Major Lazer and Tchami on Soundcloud.
Anna Lunoe – B.D.D. [NEST]
Released last year, “B.D.D.” from Anna Lunoe is one of the most monster tunes…ever. Huge jungle drums and Anna’s unforgettable hook make this track a forever-favorite here at NHQ.
Sofie Letitre – Real (Infuze Remix) [Division Recordings]
Infuze came by NHQ just a few weeks ago and played this one for us, and I begged him to let us premiere it. Such a creative flip from Sofie’s original.
Ramzoid – M8 [self-released]
Really down with the teenage producer from Canada known as Ramzoid. Arpeggios, syncopations, and staccato rhythms lay the foundations for this heavily-synthesized and over-indulgent new wave of trap style music.
Sevyn Streeter ft. Chris Brown – Don’t Kill The Fun (Falcons & Tony Quattro Remix) [self-released]
“One more track in memory of the summer” reads the description of this remix on Falcons’ Soundcloud, and it’s spot on. Falcons and Tony Quattro take the pop hit and flip it into a fun, percussive club rendition that holds on to plenty of the OG’s vocals.
Cam & China – Numb (CT Prioritaire/DJ Karaoke Edit) [self-released]
This is high key one of the sexiest jams to surface in the last few months. I’m not sure how Rytmeklubben’s DJ KARAOKE ended up finding LA duo Cam & China, but I’m glad he did because this kuduru flavored flip of their “Numb” single is brassy slow jam flames.
GTA – Red Lips (Slander & NGHTMRE Remix) [self-released]
These guys truly make some great tunes together. The collaborative remix for GTA’s “Red Lips” from Slander and NGHTMRE is a double-drop monster strapped with a tenacious DnB switch up in the track’s second half.
Check in next week and every Thursday for more editions of nest10.
