Soulwax. Tiga. Erol Alkan. Brodinski. These names have a couple things in common. Firstly, they are contemporary Techno giants, responsible for the appreciation and growth of the electronic genre for decades. The second characteristic that all of these top-tier artists possess is their open support for the music that has been made in recent years by the Australian producer, Light Year. From his first release, Night/Vision, to the masterpiece that was Moderation, Light Year has shown consistent quality always, which is perhaps why lauded American imprint Ghostly International/Spectral Sound has picked up his most recent EP, Come Together, to join the ranks of quality Techno releases over the years from stalwart producers like Matthew Dear/Audion, Seth Troxler, Benoit & Sergio, and more.
Come Together hosts three new originals, with the title track receiving a video treatment along with the EP release this morning. In “Come Together,” Light Year utilizes delicate, wind-chime-esque sounds to lead in, followed up by a thwacking synth bassline that balances out the single nicely. Noninvasive and colorful, “Come Together” illuminates new growth from the now-UK based producer, and the new video directed by Roarke Pearce provides a stimulating visual to assuage additional senses simultaneously.
