19-year-old Sydney resident Thomas Purcell began producing in 2012 as part of disco house duo, Pablo J & The Lobsterettes. In May of 2013, he launched his solo project, Wave Racer, as way of exploring completely new and original material. His current productions blend the laid-back and sunny sounds of his previous work with the bright synths, upbeat melodies and intricate drum patterns of artists like Rustie and Cashmere Cat.
Shortly after premiering the Adventure Time sampling “Stoopid” single and “Rock U Tonite” as free downloads on Soundcloud, his tracks were picked up and released through Australian imprint Future Classic, (the label which gave us artists like Flume, Flight Facilities, Anna Lunoe & Touch Sensitive). He’s also been receiving steady airwave support from influential outlets like Triple J, FBi and BBC Radio 1, and made it onto In The Mix’s list of local producers you need to hear.
